How The Coronavirus Is Affecting Travel (Covid-19)

Coronavirus

What is the Coronavirus?

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death (mainly to the elderly and people with underlying health issues).

How it has affecting us travelling?

The Coronavirus pandemic has understandably put the world in a panic and measures are being taken to battle it. Most of the European countries that have been effected by this are now on lock down, how long for is uncertain. I arrived back to the UK on the 1st March, just before Spain went into lock down which is lucky for me because I would not have liked to be trapped in another country without Antonio. We also have a trip booked to Poland in the upcoming month (April). Poland has also gone into lock down due to Covid-19. We are currently in the process of contacting Opodo who we booked our flights through. Opodo has one of the worst customer service in our experience! So good luck to us. As for Airbnb they are offering refunds under certain circumstances. I am yet to contact booking.com because as I have a nonrefundable booking with them.
We are hoping to reschedule this trip.
