Le Refuge des Aiglons – Chamonix

On our visit to the french alps we stayed at this rustic
4* hotel called Le Refuge des Aiglons. What attracted us to book this hotel was the cosy look it had and the outdoor swimming pool area with the mountain views.

Location

Le Refuge des Aiglons - bus station in front of hotel
Bus station

This 4* hotel is in the perfect location of Chamonix, its a 10 minute walk from the main town centre, the bus station is literally on the doorstep and there are night bars and restaurants 2 minutes away. One of the bars we frequented is called Le Monkey Bar and Restaurant which served delicious tacos and cocktails. L’Aiguille du Midi Ski Pass Office is easily accessible from the hotel by walking distance. Here you can find out information and access the ski resort and cable cars. The hotel staff will be happy to point you in the right direction.

Double Room 121

Le Refuge des Aiglons - Hotel room

The room was beyond my expectation. It was cosy, clean and designed to perfection with the beautiful implementation of ambient lighting in the head board of the bed. This room came with a side view of the snowy mountains and all the amenities such as: bathrobes, slippers, shampoo and body wash, tea, coffee, a mini bar (additional charge), water, a hair dryer, t.v with 8 languages, a safe box, and a shower and separate toilet.

Facilities

Le Refuge des Aiglons - photo booth

Le Refuge des Aiglons is a hotel with lots of facilities. So if your planning on staying in the hotel for most of your visit, you won’t get bored. In the lobby you can find their “Life Space” room which has tons of classic board games and a computer free for guests to use. All of this is complemented with a cosy fireplace topped up with freshly cut wood by the friendly staff who serve your drinks and snacks straight to your table. You can also have a laugh taking some silly photos with their own FREE photo booth.

Le Refuge des Aiglons - Spa

The hotel spa is so relaxing. The minute you get into the Jacuzzi your not going to want to get out. Literally cocktail in one hand and snap chat in the other, ready to capture the breath taking views of Mount Blanc, so for all you Instagramers this is where you want to be. There are two cabins located right next to the swimming pool one is a stream room and the other is a sauna. The spa are can get crowded very quickly in the evening so we would recommend you getting their early.

Bar and Restaurants

Le Refuge des Aiglons - Private cable car dinner

Wine and dine at The Life Space Restaurant in the hotel. The restaurant has a unique decor with pimped out reindeer’s on the wall & offers a once in a lifetime experience to dine in a cable car with a stunning view of the mountains. We can honestly say this restaurant serves some of the best food in Chamonix. We ate their roast chicken with dauphinois potatoes & grilled salmon with sweet potato which was delicious, for desert we had a creme brulee. YOU CANNOT LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING THE CREME BRULEE! There is also the option to take your food to your room if you just feel like laying in bed and pigging out.

Le Refuge des Aiglons - Bar

You can enjoy a drink at their bar where they specialise in Gin cocktails and serve the most refreshing Mont Blanc Beer. Ohh and don’t worry if Gin isn’t your thing they have a wide variety of other drinks.

Summary

So to sum up our experience, Le Refuge des Aiglons is an absolute must! We enjoyed every moment of our stay and it really began to feel like home. We definitely will go back and recommend it to anyone travelling to Chamonix.
