Black Moss Pot – Lake District Cliff Jumping

Looking for a chill-out spot this summer for you and some friends to hang out? Black Moss Pot is the place! In the Langstrath valley where the earth has a deep crack and a waterfall at the upper end, you’ll find the perfect place for wild swimming and cliff jumping.

Black Moss Pot

Black Moss Pot is only a 45-minute walk from Stonethwaite Farm & campsite. There is parking on the side of the road and if you are a customer at The Langstrath Country Inn you will have access to their car park.

Along the way, you will come across some crystal blue streams and waterfalls leading up to Black Moss Pot which are great for a quick dip. The scenery is absolutely incredible. Continue following the trail and you’ll find yourself at Black Moss Pot.

When we arrived we found ourselves a quiet spot away from other people as there were quite a few of us and we wanted to have a BBQ. Do your own research as I’m not sure if your actually allowed to BBQ, but we did it anyways. After stuffing our faces with sausages we headed to the 6-meter-high jumping cliffs.

There are other people camping and cliff jumping so it’s pretty easy to make friends. If you are not a great swimmer like myself I would advise wearing a life jacket and if you are lucky enough to have a lifeguard as your friend then bring them along.
