In the tropical jungle of Krabi lies these beautiful wooden and stone Thai style bungalows with a limestone cliff backdrop. Perfect surroundings! Ao Nang Cliff View Resort is rated at 3 stars which is hard to believe as our experience proved other wise.
Location
Just a 10 minute walk from the Cliff View Resort is the busy street of Ao Nang, a very long stretch off bars, street food, tattoo shops and massage parlours or you can hop on the free shuttle service the resort provides. The shuttle bus can also drops you off at the beach. You will find lots of vendors trying to sell you island hopping tours which of course is going to be part of your Krabi experience, so you’ll need to be ready to hustle for the best price. The famous Railay Beach is about a 10 minute boat ride from Ao Nang beach. For those of you who like a challenging adventure, just a 30 minute drive on a Moped through the windy roads with a view of the limestone cliffs is the Tiger Cave Temple. If your anything like us and like to venture out, you can find the emerald pool and a natural hot spring about an hour away from the resort.
Room – Superior Bungalow D14
This wooden cabin room was well kept and authentic, fitted with AC and a big comfy bed. The room was big and spacious along with the shower room and yes we had HOT WATER this is a must when your used to showering in England. The cabin had it’s own private balcony which was surrounded by greenery and a limestone cliff backdrop, perfect for those morning coffees. The room had its basic amenities, fresh towels, a safe and bottled water which is provided for you everyday.
Restaurant
Breakfast was included in our package, this was a fantastic choice as this got us up early every morning. The food is cooked fresh right in the restaurant everyday with a wide variety to choose from, waffles, eggs cooked right in front of you, to traditional Thai food. Oh and don’t let me forget about the deserts, fresh pastries and chocolate pancakes. What a way to start your day! The restaurant is open till late for you to enjoy their delicious food and cold beverages.
Facilities
This resorts offers a pool that is surrounded by limestone cliffs and a gym in the jungle, what more can you ask for. They also offer a range of massages from a couple’s massage to a traditional Thai massage. At the Check in desk you can find a range of tours that the staff can help you book. We used the services to rent out a Moped which you can pick up and drop off right on the grounds of the resort.
Staff
We were welcomed by their friendly staff who brought us some welcome drinks and kindly checked us in and walked us to our bungalow. They were very helpful as silly me locked us out of our bungalow on a rainy day and had to run all the way back to the check in to get the spare key. The staff provided me with a fresh towel to dry myself with and an umbrella and escorted me back to my bungalow. All the staff spoke our language which is always helpful when you are a tourist.
Summary
This resort was more than we can ask for, the quality and service they provided us was beyond our expectations, from the food to the rooms and the facilities. Staying at Ao Nang Cliff View Resort definitely made our experience in Krabi a lot better. We will definitely be booking the Cliff View Resort when were back! Hotel 5/8 Thailand!
