Alicante is located in Spain on the South-eastern Costa Blanca with stunning vies of the Mediterranean coast. I spent 48 hours exploring this Spanish town. Here are a my favourite places to see in Alicante.
Explanada de España
This is a mosaic walkway along the sea front lined with palm trees and during the day after the traditional sesta these little pop up stalls come out selling with jewellery, souvenirs and food coffee shops.
Santa Barbara Castle
So I’m not the biggest fan of exploring castles and history but this was such a spectacular castle to visit. Its an ancient fortress with panoramic views of the whole city
Playa del Postiguet Beach
Postiguet beach is in the urban area of Alicante, next to the port and at the foot of Santa Barbara castle. This beach gets crowded pretty quick but never the less I had a fantastic day soaking in the sun and jumping into the Mediterranean sea.
Mushroom Street – Calle de Las Setas
Alicante transformed this area into a whimsical, fantasy wonderland of yellow brick roads, toadstool houses, and towering mushrooms. This has turned into a tourist hotspot and its right in the middle of the shopping area . This was a cool little gem we came across whilst shopping.
Spain is a country with 17 regions and 48 hours is not enough time to explore them all but it was enough for me to get a feel of the small part of Alicante. I would love to do a road trip throughout the 17 regions one day. So yes I would return!
