If you know us, you know city breaks aren’t really our thing. We love being out in nature but South Wales has it all, Mountains, beaches, and cities. Who knew a winter break in south wales was just what we needed.
Day 1/2 – Tenby
We headed to the far end of Wales, Haverfordwest where we spent 2 nights in a hut in the middle of a farm, we arrived quite late and went straight to bed that night so we could be refreshed and ready for the next day. The morning came and we headed out to explore the southwest coast, Tenby. It’s known for its boat tours and Seal spotting during the summer. The town has a 13th century feel with loads of little alleyways making for great photo opportunities. It also has beautiful sandy beaches. If you are in Tenby you cannot miss this cozy cafe called Caffe Vista, it has a fantastic view of the colorful houses and overlooks the beach & harbor making it the perfect place to enjoy a coffee and grab some lunch.
Day 3 – Swansea
Moving along the coast we arrived in Swansea city where we did some shopping for our dinner. We spotted the winter wonderland near the marina but didn’t have enough time to visit, unfortunately. 30 minutes away we were staying in what can only be described as one of the coolest shipping containers in the UK. This wasn’t your average shipping container, this one came with its very own hot tub and a spectacular view of the city. The location was so nice that we spent the whole day & night at our accommodation. If you want to know more about this place, click here.
Day 4 – Winter Wonderland in Cardiff
The next day we woke up bright and early to watch the sunrise, the view from the accommodation we stayed in was one of a kind and we just couldn’t pass us the opportunity to watch the sunrise over the hills. Afterward, we got some coffee in us and headed to Cardiff City, on our way there we spotted McArthurGlen (a designer clothing outlet) and just couldn’t resist. After doing some shopping we arrived at our Airbnb where we checked in and headed back out to Cardiff castle for some ice skating and to enjoy the cinnamon taste of mulled wine at winter wonderland. We then headed back to our hotel for a goodnight’s sleep before checking out of our Airbnb and heading off in search of the famous house from the Netflix show ‘Sex Education’. After some digging online we managed to figure out where it’s located and actually ended up finding it. It was looked just as amazing in real life as it did in the show. That was our final stop on our South Wales winter break, after this we began the long drive home. Until next time.
