Venturing to the stunning landscapes of Iceland, we discovered the enchanting Myvatn Nature Bath or what we like to call it, the Blue Lagoon of Northern Iceland – a hidden gem that turned our Christmas into a truly magical and rejuvenating affair. Myvatn Nature Bath offers a picturesque setting surrounded by snow-capped mountains and frozen landscapes.
The main draw of Myvatn Nature Bath is its geothermal hot springs, renowned for their healing properties. As we immersed ourselves in the warm, mineral-rich waters, any traces of holiday stress melted away. It was a serene escape, a perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

Lagoon
Geothermal water is drawn from depths of up to 2.500 meters the water supplies for the lagoon run straight from the National Power Company´s bore hole in Bjarnarflag. The water has a temperature of about 130°C when it arrives at the huge basin beside the lagoon, forming an impressive, man-made hot spring. Altogether, the lagoon and the basin contain around 3.5 million liters of water at 36 – 40°C. It contains a large amount of minerals, is alkaline, and is well suited for bathing. Due to its chemical composition, undesired bacteria and vegetation do not thrive in the lagoon making chloride or any other disinfectant redundant.
Steam Baths
The steam rises directly through the floor and is completely controlled by weather. Typically the temperature is around 45°C and the humidity is close to 100%. The steam baths have amazing views overlooking the Lagoon and the snowy mountains.
Swim-up bar
Enjoy beverages at our swim-up bar, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They take payments at the bar but I’m sure you can pay after at the main reception. To see the swim-up bar Click Here.
Facilities
There are changing rooms and showers that offer body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. However, there are no private changing rooms and everyone just changes in front of each other.
After relaxing in the milky blue water and soaking up the scenery surrounding the lagoon you can enjoy a selection that includes soup of the day with freshly baked bread, freshly made sandwiches, fresh salad, and the famous geyser bread with smoked arctic char. Throughout the day they also offer muffins, cinnamon rolls, and more for the sweet tooth, as well as coffee, sodas, beer, and wine.

Location
If you traveling from Akureyri we advise that you take the toll route here as we did not and the roads are dangerous as it is a single lane and on the edge of a cliff with a drop right into the ocean.
